80 series onwards are full time 4WD with a centre diff lock activated by ther stubby little gear stick, or a switch on the dash in high range.
Having said that, the Government issue PP model still has free wheeling hubs but I have never seen a new one for sale at a dealership.

(PP, Poverty Pack, vinyl upholstery, no electrics, no air, no central locking, skinny wheels etc etc)
Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Nothing but the best for us...
Is there anything easier done than said?

You can get a Cruiser to be a 2WD but it takes a bit of effort. If you get a chance, have a look at the latest Kedron Caravans DVD. Here they are, lugging their 3 tonne off-road van up some godforsaken track in Far Nth Qld. Coming up a steepish hill into a right turn when rrrrrrttttt. Ripped the guts out of the front diff. Fortunately, a simple trip to the nearest? dealer and gawd-knows how many thousands of $ later, back to new again.

I don't know if they were using Z or WD pads though.
