Gumby,
you made the break and good on you. I did the same some years ago and am now doing something I never thought I would be doing. My life in the corporate world taught me something besides watching a bunch of crawling backstabbing butt kissers. I am now working as a consultant building factories all over the world. I haven't been in my shed for seven months and don't mind too much because the current challenges are great, they keep me alive. Just remember as one door close another opens. As long as you are optimistic and have confidence in yourself, all things are possible. I have done the "smelling the roses" bit and after a few months they stink. Re-aim your abilities and dreams and have a go, you won't regret it.If you can do it - Do it! If you can't do it - Try it!
Do both well!

All the very best for the future Gumby. Just promise you'll do want YOU want to do rather than just what everyone would EXPECT you to do.
It's your life mate, you only get the one.live as long as you can & die when you can't help it.

Sorry I didn't get back last night
She was asleep so I started reading a book and nodded off myself.
Thanks for the encouraging comments people. I'm going to do a some work around the home for the next few weeks and then we are going to NZ for a nice holiday for 20 days.
After that, well, who knows. If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Is this a good example of "the best laid plans of mouse and man. .."? (pun on"Laid").
Little wonder that she fell asleep with the WWF choir singing hits from the 60s in the background!
I walked out on my job of 20 years about four years ago - At the time it was almost as bad a feeling as when my Dad died. Now I realise that it was the best thing that could have happened.
All the best for your future. Have a great holiday and don't start working until you're ready to (or need to - whichever comes first!)Cheers
Jeremy
