    Default Rubbing oil

    Could anyone tell me what rubbing oil is?
    It is sold "to finish and add lustre to natural oil finishes"
    What type of oil is this and does it work? Looks and smells like light machine (mineral?) oil

    It very well may be mineral oil. Who knows what goes into some of these proprietary products? I knew a guy who sold a special brand of miracle finish restorer under his own label-one of the chief ingredients was old crankcase oil.

    some of my Closer friends
    So Rubbing Oil has a different meaning to what you might have.

    Mind you, it sometimes has a 'Woody' aroma about it:eek:

    It is Vegetable/Plant based.

    If you're still looking for the make-up of this stuff have a look on the web and put in;

    Household Products Database Rubbing Oil

    Once in the site, go to the sub-folder "Products"

    It's a US Govt site (National Institute of Health) and gives analysis & safety/health/disposal advice for different products.

    (Sorry. Haven't managed to sort out how to insert a link yet!)

    Salopian,

    Are you a Salopian in the sense of "Rex Edwarde, te canamus / Pium fundatorem,/ Nec, sodales, sileamus regiam sororem./ Mente prosequamur grata regem et reginam/ Fautricemque amoena prata resonent Sabrinam", or are you just a resident of Shropshire?
