    Default Strangeness

I couldn't access the forums at all yesterday. From around 9.00 'till evening, the connection would fail.

Looking at the activity on the board, it would appear that it was just me.

All my other internet sites were o.k.

Did anybody else have trouble connecting yesterday?

    It's very odd.

not yesterday, but I have had the same thing a few times and thought the server was resetting or something like that.

Mostly it seems to occur around 7pm.

Nope, it wasn't just you Craig.

I couldn't get on at all yesterday afternoon or last night.

Neil sent me this link that may answer some of your questions (at least it did mine!)

Same with me, could access everything else except the forum.

Got my resident expert to check it out and she could "ping everything except the forum which was timed out"

The reason is that the server for the forums is in the US. Apparently the connection between Oz and the western seaboard of the states for some ISP's went down. I found that I could access all bar two of my sites (including this one).

One thing I was told to try and did successfully is to set telstra as a proxy server, which worked great considering I am with iiNet.

This is the only site that I have difficulty with when I use my laptop.
Over 75 % of the time, when I have gone to the second site on this forum, I lose this site, completely and haveto re-enter. The same thing still happens when I re-enter, too.
BUT, from my desktop, there is never a problem, yesterday included.
    Is this a related problem?

Yeah, it's the second time it's happened to me in the last few weeks.

Yesterday from 4PM until well after midnight the forum gave no response whatsoever, even attempted pings were a 100% loss. Every other site I tried, inc. another site hosted in Texas, worked fine so I assumed (as I did t'other time) that the BBS itself was down. Until today, when I see all the posts that miraculously appeared during the "down time." Exactly the same as before.

Worse, I'm told at login that my last log in was "1 day ago." Huh?? It's logging me in even though it's not deigning to acknowledge a ping? What gives??

I wonder how that'd work for my Optus cable? Next time...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
