    Default Another father’s day

My wife asked me what I want for father’s day. No, I don’t want anything because I have just bought a Tormek and 1.3 ton of timber.

(Would like to buy a Makita router but.)

Now go back to 4 years ago. It was my first father’s day. I got a GMC router (Yes, I am keeping it.). I didn’t have tools and I thought $49.95 for a router was expensive.

Oh my gosh, in just 4 years and many $1,000 later I have become a monster.

    Anyway, what are you getting?

Soon the shops are sure to start pushing the advertising. More a commercial thing.

For fathers day all I want is a hug from each of my billy lids and a kiss from my lovely wife...

    I am a simple man.

HWMBO would be very happy to have a day in front of tv with no interruptions, the remotes all to himself, food and rum and ... on tap

why can't he just want a day in the shed like every other normal man

My Dad's getting the ottoman I made this year.

I sealed my fate when I told SWMBO that Mother's Day was just a marketing scheme manufactured by retailers to sell more stuff during the quiet season.

Still got the black eye from when you said the same about Valentines day?

Oh, no, I'd never be that silly. I just told her that Valentine's day is traditionally for the declaration of secret love, and since the fact of our marriage eliminates any possibility of secrecy in the matter, that there was no point in us celebrating it.

    Darren,

I said the same to MrsP about Mothers/Fathers day, Valentines, Easter, Christmas and all the others.

None of them are about what they are supposed to be about any more. All I want for any of them is o spend some time with my family. Watching people get all hung up about whether their gift is good enough to satisfy the Christmas spirit gives me the shyts.
