Default Is There a Time Out On This Site?

    Hi,

I am !xihn" mad:mad:  atm as the result of having just wrote a 30 minute reply to this query

    http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ad.php?t=36027

only to find that when I clicked on the "submit New Thread" button the site disappeared. This is not the first time it has happened recently.

Therefore I wish to know if there is a time restriction on how long you can write for or the length of a post?

Sorry Vlad but I haven't the time to write it again.

    Regards
    David

    Nah, it's just you.

Here's a tip, next time you write a post, befor you hit submit, highlight all the text and hit CTRL+C. That way, if you do lose the post you can re-submit it by opening a new "reply to" window and hitting CTRL+V

    very useful information above.

But I think there was a hiccup earlier today, the same happened on a thread I was posting.
Even my server went funny on me asking for passwords and messing about.

Use Post reply button at the base of message in, or post new thread at top of ubeaut web page if looking at a new subject heading.

I have also suffered the 'gotcha' of posting a long reply to have all my slow typing disappear into the myst.

I think you'll probably find that all these problems are the result of the arrival on the site of Al's alter ego: Randorlf, who has apparently taken over what passes for the Craporium proprietor's brain . See

You may also like to set your email program to check your email once a minute. This can stop some timeouts as the connection is obviously still busy.

Y'er right Cliff, but it is still a good practice and useful to know about.
