Pooling water in alley way???
Hi all,
This is the alley side of a single-fronted semi-detached period home (the white coloured wall). This is the morning after a rainy night in the alley.
At the front of the alley there is the main stormwater drain for the whole alley, which has a small amount of water pooling.
There is a second pool further back, past the second window of the house and outside the back fence of the house and also outside the fence of the neighbours house opposite. See the second photo below.
This always seems to occur, why is this? where could it come from? how could it be resolved?
From the white house, I do not think there is any leaking coming from anywhere???

Hi.
Either lift up the cobbles where the water is, or lower the grate so the water runs into it better.
Or just ignore it.

3)What Al said, basically. Ignore it -does it really matter that there's puddles in the alleyway next to your house? If that's your biggest problem then I envy you. Lift cobbles and regrade the drain to give a consistent fall to the grate. This would fix it, but it's a lot of trouble to go to, especially if, as I suspect, it's not your property but the council's. In which case you wouldn't be allowed to do the work without written permission and (most probably) lodging plans, fees and a bond, taking out public liability insurance, erecting barrriers around the work, and ensuring access for other residents.
Live with the puddles, I say.
