Built in Wardrobes Supplier required
<o></o>
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows a good supplier of built in mirrored wardrobes. as I have seen some ad's in the local paper which quoted $699 fully installed now that means if I buy it directly from a wholesaler I should hopefully be buying the wardrobe for about $400 am I correct in assuming that?
P.s I live in Sydney

are you an owner builder?
is this a new house or reno job?

Can I join in on this?
I will be doing a renovation of a couple of built-ins. I had been proposing to do the whole lot from scratch, but if there are some wholesale opportunities, they are worth considering.
Anyway, whatever I save can be my tool allowance/justification (we mere males like to dream, maybe even get more than one brownie point-now that is real dreaming
).

Sorry, haven't used them for a few years, been making my own doors. Got the materials from Ullrich Metals and mirror from my local harware.

essentially, "Mr Wardrobes" (and if that's a trade name it's not my intention to denigate them) can buy the melamine panels for a wardrobe, cut them to size and edge band them for less than what you or I would spend on petrol to get to the supplier. What you pay for is the design, the labour to install the panels and the doors (there's a huge mark-up on these) and a "no mess" instalation. When we had the wardrome in our unit done everything was hung off a steel rail screwed to the rear wall and the instalers were in and out in about 2 hours.
also "Mr Wardrobes" prefers to install standard size units with euro style hinges, if your wall is not a sandard height or width you need bulkheads to cover the gap. Similarly, if you want a bank of drawers covered by a door, there needs to be a filler between where the hinges are mounted and the drawers = you loose drawer width and depth.
I believe there's a place on the Cenral Coast which makes the boxes for kitchen cabinets as flat packs. At it's most basic, a wardrobe is just a series of tall kichen cabinets side by side. If you're competent at drafting, you could supply a cut/jointing list and install the bit & pieces yourself. You can probably get all the hardware, including the mirror doors, from one of the super size Bunnies. But given the difference in purchasing power between you and I and "Mr Wardrobes" I doubt if you would save all that much.
