    Default Can you repair Villaboard?

SHMBO has decided that the line of feature tiles in our bathroom have to be changed. She has lived with the horrible pink color and can't stand it any longer. (I agree they are ugly)

As a result I have cut a few out to see how how hard this will be to do. And as a result the old tile adhesive has removed some of the villaboard along with the tiles.

Can this be taped and filled with cornice cement and then waterproofed or do I need to cut the damaged villaboard out and replace prior to tiling over with new feature tiles?

We tried that and ended up tiling over the old tiles with 'pencils' along both edges - this was for a single line of 200mm tiles horizontal. They make an interesting feature sticking out. Otherwise, if its just a line of tiles above watersplash height then I wouldn't be too concerned with waterproofing and just make sure that there is enough backing left (with a bit of bogging) to stich the new tiles to. Good Luck.

You can just patch and tile over.
