Two-pack finishes

After many hints from yours truly SHMBO
bought me Neil's polishers' bible for my
birthday!
A very interesting and informative little
reference which is getting plenty of use.
However, there is no mention of 2-pack
finishes. I know you can't cover everything
but is this topic anathema to furniture
makers or do we only use it on floors etc?
I tried it with mixed results.The instructions on the can (which I did read carefully) were pretty basic and didn't deliver what they promised.
Does anyone know the secret?

Hi Chas,

The secret is to not use brands that are focused on the hobbiest market. Head to Russco's or Pioneer Industrial Products ( tell em I sent ya! ) Mirotone is one that I have had great success with over the years.

Also one very important thing about 2-part products is that when they say 10:1 they mean 10:1 not 11:1. The slightest difference can mean success or failure. All leading industrail brands will supply a measuring stick with the ratios clearly marked for two or three part mixes.

The reason for no 2 part info in book is that I really have little knowledge of it I have only ever used clear casting resin in a couple of finishes and that is all.

Had great success with the casting resin and have seen some brilliant finishes done with 2 part flow-pack type products but that's not enough for inclusion in the book. Shane is pretty well up with the 2 part stuff and is a good one to seek more info from.

Could I get a little (or a lot......suit yourself) on the polisher's handbook as described above?

I would dearly luv to be able to get consistently good finishes on my creations but so far my results have been decidedly iffy.
