Default sealing a woody top from sun and rain

I am trying to finish a wooden top on my Langcrusier. The wood is mahogany, and I tried to coat it with spar varnish but with only six months its pealing and did not seal very well. Does anyone have any ideas on how to waterproof and still be able to see the beautiful colors of the mahogany.

Have you considered using epoxy? That's probably as waterproof as you'll get.I don't know how it would stand up to the Sun.
I'd call a marine supply store and talk to them,
or try these people System Three
They have a variety of products for marine applications and also a "Bar Top" epoxy.
They have an extensive PDF on their product uses.
