Hasn't beaurocracy come a long way?
Last time I laid a cable, the only thing I had to decide was whether to scrunch or fold.
P (Is that the sort of thing you were getting at Zeddie?)

It was actually a link to a picture in an old thread on this forum so if anyone would like to see it, let me know.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Zed,
I think you have created a conundrum for us:
1) The question relates to the erection of rigging, usually the domain of the Dogman.
2) The only Dog-man we have is Grunt.
3) Grunt by his own admission, since his marriage at least, has not been involved in any work requiring erection.
THEREFORE
The skills required for calculation of S.W.L. of cable are now rare and endangered, and it may not be possible to obtain an answer for the question.

You had better make that 2 reds 'cos I can't even google it.
The dumb @rse way they do things here in Oz is such that they pass a law that says 'you will do it to this standard' & then they make you buy the bloody standard.
Can't help ya.
Nope, told a lie, I have found something here....
http://www.citb.org.au/cso/rigging/guide/gde005.htm
& here.
http://www.citb.org.au/cso/dogging/table/table004.htm
Still can't find anything about G.B.S.Cliff.

Thanks Cliff
Formula: SWL (kg) = D2 (mm) x 8
So, when was the last time you saw a Doggie doing the mental arithmatic with a load, or for that matter weighing anything? (Yeah yeah, I know about load cells! )
Hmmm, I'm trying to think of the last time I met a doggie who was capable of understanding any formula other than 24 x cans = 1 Slab.
I know I'm doing a great disservice to the noble crane drivers and dogmen of this great country, but really.... what happened to "she'll be right!"
