    Default one pack poly

Is a one pack clear poly ok for a gloss finish on a bowl ? Ok... i know the answer is "yes" as far as looks goes but can I use it for a fruit bowl or would there be any health issues associated ???

(I've got a small can of wattyl clear one pack poly gloss on a jarrah burl bowl).

Would prefer a water based clear like an aqualac.
    Do or do not.....

Just try on a piece of scrap timber first.

I don't see a problem. It is only nasty while in the liquid state, once it cures it becomes inert, and is non toxic. The danger is really in applying it.

If your going to be using the chopping board regularly, just the leave the thing natural. Do a search in this board as this aubject has been talked about many times.
While the poly is supposedly fine once cured its still not a nice thought that small fragments might end up in the cooking.
Mind you I like Jamie Oliver's idea of using the whole timber bench top as a chopping board!
