Demonstration at ww show
A bloke called Mr Les Miller was doing some demonstrations at the ADL WW show last month. H was demonstrating how to effectively apply varnish with a cloth rag, rather than with a paint brush. Has any one else tried this with sucess.
Also all the rage here at the moment is using those foam brushes, as the claim is that they do not leave brush marks.
Looked through Ubeaut's Polishing handbook( which is very good), but could not find much on this topic, although I don't think he recomends/uses much varnish/estapol...
Feedback appreciated.
regards
Tony

Estapol's/varnish's are useless and are really only promoted by the paint companies to sucker the average Joe into thinking they are the best available because they're readily available at Bunnies/Mitre 10/Hardware House etc. Hands up how many tradesmen use them....I don't see many hands... They do have there place though, don't get me wrong.
Anyway, back down off the box -
Applying finishes by way of a rag is very effective with practice (as is everything) Lets not forget 'french polishing' is done by way of a rag (sure theres more than just a piece of cloth, but you know what I mean).
Cheers!

I was a floor finisher in a previous life, before the solvents got to me. But to put my two bobs worth in. On basketball courts I would use a Peerless product very close to the same consistancy as a varnish. I applied it with a lambs wool applicater made from a bed underlay.( much cheaper). Polyurathane I applied with a mohair roller
All these projects. Not enough lifetimes to finish them.
