Check out my updates and give you honest opinions.

I have change some things as youse advised, but cant for the life of me think why the res must be 800x600. :confused:

Anyone who views in 800x600 needs to update their computer..or get some glasses.

I havent read any of the other replies so solly if I am repeating what anyone else has said.

I have done a course on "web page design for govt" for what thats worth.

I think the following could be improved;

remove picture at bottom so that you dont need to scroll down to see whats there.

There is way too much info for a front page. Buttons or hyperlinks are great such as;

1) "Where are we?" that links to the address, a picture of the shop and a mudmap of how to get there.
2) "Opening Times" that links to these times
3) "What do we have" that shows all the items
4) "Specials"

Also think that the picture should be one large one not four small ones.

And also a catchy phrase "Treasures on Plenty for plenty of treasures" or something far better.

Al, the background colour is too dark.

You cannot easily read the black writing on this very dark colour. A bit like the subtitles on tv shows where they are white on a white background.:eek:

On my local and remote site the the links are in pink on black, curiouser and curiouser..

It must be on different computers as Midge has a problem with the link colours, but then Midge is a Macca Whacca...

There is a set of standard colors that are color correct on every computer, but as you've experienced odd colors can vary considerably from computer to computer.

Oz did you calibrate your screen before you set all your colours. If not they could be all over the place. Even so when choosing colours you should assume that people looking at your sites are on uncalibrated monitors so choose colours that won't fall into each other easily.

Nothing to do with mac or anything else. Considering that Macs come for the most part with very good middle range monitors it might just be that his colours are much better represented than on you screen. There are some pretty horible monitors out there and they make all the difference between seeing it well or not.
