I write in reply to all questions on Glass Splashbacks.I am a cabinetmaker/shopfitter by trade.I Own Graphic Glazing Glass Splashbacks in Sydney.I pioneered this industry 6 years ago and currently my company measure, produce and install 50 Splashbacks a week.I Would like to reply to some comments I read in some articles.
You must toughen Glass behind cook tops for heat. You cant just paint your own glass if you want the coating to be permanent. The average price for a Glass Splashback is aruond $900,which includes measure, manufacture and installation. This is cheaper than granite, stone and s/steel.All joints are silicone sealed. All edges are polished.
My guys have pulled out and replaced so many jobs that were 'clean cut',paint falling off, silicone bleeding through the paint,10mm joints,etc...
If I can help anyone out with any information, please let me know.
