And then some! (sorry about the grammar - or lack of it ). Do you recall the fuss the Champagnois made about the vile thing called "Babycham" a couple of decades ago? The outcome was that the producers of said muck could no longer attach the word Champagne to their product.

We have some excellent wines, etc here, so I see no problem in calling them "Clare" or whatever?

But Cameron, we ARE south of France. A long way south as it happens and so are a lot of other countries. Not due south though, more of a SSW or something like that.

Actually, that's a very good point ! Champagne, Port (Oporto), Sherry (cf Jerez), Parma, etc are place names, and there's no copyright on such labels.

If you think that they are only about the only about the wine forget it the next thing in their sights is Cheese and that hase been on the drawing board for the last few years. The problen as some one has pointed out we downunder OZ and NZ are doing it better than them and they are losing sales to us and they don't like it.
