19mm v 12mm T&G Oak
G'day all. As I've said in the concreting forum we decided on a wooden floor as we couldn't justify the cost of a polished slab.
Our builder is suggesting Kiln Dried Tas Oak T&G 12mm flooring over structoflor trudek. Any comments on this as I would prefer 19mm Tas Oak flooring over the trudek for the extra mass (hate springy, creaky floors).
CheersIf you never made a mistake, you never made anything!

I'm no expert, but my recent & first experience with thin T&G flooring has me firmly in the 19 - 22mm camp. By the time a T & G is milled into the board, there's not much meat left above the groove, & I think it leaves that part of the board too weak & vulnerable to movement - in my case curling up. It's a nice idea from a sustainability viewpoint, but she don't work in the real world.

One of the often unspoken benefits of an oil finish.....no resanding.

House extension - floor.
I've decided on Select Grade Tas Oak T&G 85mm x 19mm as an overlay to 20mm Trudek Flooring.
I picked it out today. Beautiful batch. No gum, no knots. all cut to the lengths I want. Kiln dried to 8 - 10%. Delivered free.
The guy recommended a wax finish called Treatex (made in germany and sold by Whittles Waxes in Oz.
Anyone used this finish before?

Let us know how it goes with the Treatex. Always curious to get feedback on new products.
