Telstra ISDN, faster than dial up and about the same price, at the moment they tell me it's running 128 kbs but the little thing at the bottom of the screen tells me it's 64kbs.
When broadband comes in (October 2005 was promised ) I will go for the $89 package which includes capped phone calls anywhere and to telstra mobiles.

    Internode.on.net 256kb 15gb download limit
Wireless distribution through house and neighbours

    Excellent.

Free Internet radio and downloads (tucows.com)

Also about to move to VoIP through Internode , which by my calcs will drop our phone bill by about $60/70 month. BIL does it with a wireless handset - V.Effective.

Postscript: For Internode users look for mum.exe its a small online download monitor which is excellent.

broadband, 512 with iinet plus voip. Pretty happy with it, most local calls are between the missuses mum and sister who are also on iinet with voip so those calls are free.

    ummm, same price?

is that before or after factoring in the extra cost for the isdn telephone conversion?

Our isdn internet account cost would be ok but telstra slugs us extra for having 2 phone lines over 1 pair of wires.

Phooey, only need that for the internet connection as ordinary dialup here is very flaky and unreliable. Whick I reckon is due in part at least from substandard cables that run along farm fences or just lie on top of the ground.

If we have a couple of wet days even the isdn slows down, last night it was barely useable.

Dont think Iinet will be around for long....company is in serious financial peril.
