Nah mate hasn't been proper state of origin in donkeys years now. It was pretty much killed when the great Ted Whitten died. Prior to that State of Origin was going since about 1890 or there abouts unlike the League mob who decided in the 1980's that they would try to do something like that.

Well and truly belted us that day. Can't remember exactly who you didn't let us have that year as half our team usually wasn't allowed in by the clubs in Melbourne. Anyway that was how that was. There were some great games back then through the 80's in particular. I remember one day would have been about 84 at Football Park and squeezed in standing room only in what was meant to be an all seated stadium saw a great game. Scores were tied with about a minute to go and the Vics got it out of the center and scored two quick goals to win by two goals. They were too good that year. There were so many great players we got to see in some of the great games of football.

It is a huge shame that they don't have them anymore.

Well, QLD got lucky & Danny Buderus was very unlucky but NSW still won by one.

I thought Finch should be the man of the match.

Typical origin game. NSW wins the first half and QLD wins the second.

are you talking about that one priceless moment when they were reflecting at halftime on the boundary and Kerls said it's not like our day Ted. And it went on if you had a problem with a guy you could sort it out while the umpire was down the other end. They don't let you do that anymore and so on. God they got into legalised assault and battery and how it was such a shame it wasn't in the game anymore.

    Two great men
