dry pigment sources

Hi group, hope someone has a suggestion. I am looking for a supplier of dry pigments to make oil stains.

The main colors I need are Burnt Umber and Yellow Oxide. I used to get them from Haymes paints but am told they no longer supply them.

If you're near the city at some time there a place in Gertrude St Fitzroy called St Luke's. They seem to have everything you need in relation to polishing - other than the products Ubeaut sells. Most of the ingredients in the polishers handbook are available. Not sure if they do mail order - ph. (03) 9486-9992

I had a look at St Luke's. They seem to supply more for the Art people.
But when looking for a suitable brush for applying shellac, was told about

Would not buy a brush from them, but they have a good range of reasonablly priced earth & spirit pigments
eg Burnt Umber 250 gm for $11.50
They also have a huge range of locks, hinges, fittings, turned pieces.
Met a guy there who uses Kitten Car Polish as a final buffing medium for his French Polishing. He swears by it !!
Can't wait to try it, tho' may have missed his "secret" then I'llbe the one swearing !

Mick, more for the art people? They stock bloody almost nearly everything a polisher could possibly need including at least 10 different brushes that would make great polishers mops, every dry pigment under the sun ---- the same goes for oil and water stain – not too mention the other stuff they stock to make your own polishing/finishing/filling/hide glue/gesso/shellac/catalyst recipe !

The thread was about a supplier of pigments.
If you take the time to read my post carefully, I have given another source of supply for pigments ( & other items ). In my post, I said I would not buy a brush from them i.e G.Brown Antiques - they were far too expensive. I did, however buy pigments, as the prices at Browns were cheaper than St Lukes.
That I also stated IMHO St Lukes were more for artists still stands.
I am the first to admit, however, opinions are like A***holes - every body has one.
