Buying a Petrol Log Splitter
Hello Everyone,
My wife has asked me to start researching log splitters to purchase as i'm not getting any younger and the pile to be split is getting bigger and bigger. We use wood as our only source of heating and have 3 little kids under 5 y.o. We live in an area where wood is reasonable plentiful in a bush setting and can get quite large in diameter. Based on this a petrol log splitter seems to be the logical choice.
Can anyone point me in the direction of reputable manufacturers &/or distributors in either Geelong or Melbourne? So i can go out and have a look and start comparing. I plan to buy one this week or next week after a little research.
What should the minimum specs i should consider? I'm not very technical but will valuse any assistance.
Many anticipated thanks.
Pete

Hi Peter,
Here is my contribution to your search.
http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...t=Log+Splitter
I bought the log Splitter from a company called Engineered Products Group (EPG). Their RRP at the time was $4,235 supplied in part kit form. I purchased it from them already assembled at AgQuip the agricultural field days here at Gunnedah in the North-West of NSW. At the time they had $3030 on it and the best I could get off it was $30 and two EPG baseball caps. I bought it three years ago so I don't know how much they are now.
I am very happy with it and it has splitting pressure of 20 tonnes.
If you go here it is in their catalouge in the PDF download file http://www.epg.com.au/fluid.htm
