Shellawax revival
I have a nearly new jar of Shellawax friction polish that some idiot (me) left on its side with the lid not screwed tightly down. The result is the usually creamy stuff has become rather thick. Can I add anything to restore it to its previous condition?

Strewth Badger! Wait till Mole & Ratty find out what you've done.
Firstly give it a really brisk stir. Even if it is almost rock hard it will go back to a creamier state.
The best thinner to use is Shellawax (the liquid one). If you don't have any and don't want to get any then a small amount of industrial methylated spirits will help. The amount of metho must be SMALL and the metho must be industrial not the common garden variety stuff.
This fix and other solutions to problems with Shellawax can be found HERE
