This is like the 14th Feb 1966.

Are you going to have a fancy jingle? Will a pound of butter cost twice as much? Will aircraft run out of fuel faster? Enquiring minds need to know!

All Admin will now give and take 200 pints at a time.
    Hi Neil,

It's normally me with the typo's in the inconvenient spots. This one gave me a chuckle.

I'll have 200 pints of Guinness thanks.
[edit: but if you want, you can take them back]

Hope that the kerfuffle with the reputation points settles down soon - I'm sure that you've more important things to do with your time.

    Cheers,

    eddie

    Question Expanation

Here is a brief and basically simple idea of what the rep points are supposed to be about:

1/ Give good rep (greenies) to people who participate with good posts that add to the interest or help of a thread.
Giving greenies is a way for members to show their appreciation, support, etc.

2/ Give bad rep (reds) to people who participate in a negative way or are abusive, etc. (Some may consider hijacking especially on a serious, informative and interesting thread to be worth giving reds.)
Giving reds is a way for members to show their displeasure at having a good thread ruined, or your disgust, revulsion at inappropriate or offencive comments, etc. (Often used to pull spammers and others into line).

The rep point system is not for giving bad rep to someone just because you don't like them or good rep to your mate or partner etc to boost their points.
    It is about being fair and handing out a , a , a , or a , , , etc where and when deserved.

I tried to keep it simple.

    Cheers - Neil

PS Rep points can be likened to Communism, if ever it was used correctly by all the people it could possibly create Utopia. But as I've said before; "Human nature being what it is, I ain't gunna hold my breath."

PPS And before anyone jumps in..... No I'm not a commie, never have been and never will be.

Dan - Yes he is....... Well he is now. Oops.

Stirlo - Anything you have by way of rep will remain it is only the way it is dished out from yesterday that has changed.

Eddie - 200 pints of Guinness eh? "I'll ave arf."
Trust me to have at least 1 typo. Pity there isn't a typo checker as well as a totally infallible spell chequer.

    Cheers - Neil

Anyone who doesn't want to view or use their rep points can switch them off in their User CP.

It is not mandatory that you participate.

that, and it's secondary point (or possibly more important one, for me at any rate ) of a place one can unwind and share a laugh etc after the stresses of the day. I haven't participated in any of the "greenie" and "reddie" business, there seems to be an awful lot of bickering and unpleasantry attached to it, don't need that.

Which is exactly what I did in the first place and then copped a red for doing it

The problem I see with users being able to hit after oinly one post is that the few who deserve to be run out of here (and some quite rightly have been) will be able to inflict some damage before they go. Including spammers.

For instance, remember Age20boat (or whatever he was called) and that other idiot going on about factories in the eastern suburbs being a plot ? I don't think it would have been good if they could have fired off some reds.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

I have not posted for a while, and (against my better judgement) I'm gonna waste some of my time on this Rep points/Purple Circle rubbish.

    GET OVER IT.

Carrying on about Rep points is starting to make some people look like gooses.

Ubeaut has had to get in and do some work on the system, effectively the 3 or so threads on rep points has meant that the man has had to waste his weekend time fixing something that is essentially infantile.
Gee, what a great use of the weekend time of one of the people that is responsible for the place we all use - lets see.... spend time with family, go fishing, do some work at my hobby, work on a points system on a web forum because little jimmy is getting all tied up in knots over the issue.... I know which option I'd choose.

Tomorrow I'm going to turn my rep points viewing option off, an option I wasn't aware of.

If anyone takes offence at me saying that your obsession on rep points is infantile then please give me a reddie before tomorrow morning when I switch them off.
I'd be interested in seeing who I should view as "a fragile little petal that is trying to bolster their ego through some sort of internet forum points system".

If the rep point system is pivotal to your sense of self worth maybe using a suction cup to stick a propeller to your forehead and painting little green dots on the ends of the prop blades might help out.

(Apologies for posting this under Gumby's last post - Gumby, or anyone else, should not see this post as aimed at the Plasticine man)
    Cheers,
