GMC (thanks Wayne)
I rarely confess to having much to do with GMC but I do have a biscuit jointer, a sander which I bought for the kids to use and the RDC50 Vac.
I have had the jointer for about 5 years and still have my receipt, same for the ROS (3 years) but the bloody vac decided to throw in the towel, I bought it at the WWW Melb last October.
No problems, just fish out the receipt and organise repair.
I find every receipt except that one, call GMC explain that the vac switches on with a power tool attached but won't turn off again, explain that I cannot find my receipt.
No probs says Wayne, just send a Stat Dec and all will be fixed.
That was last Friday, Wednesday, knock on door, courier arrives with new vac and asks that I call GMC which I do and arrange for them to pick up old unit.
After the headaches some have encountered I thought it would be worthy of giving GMC a pat on the back for their back up, and no bullsh it lets try to wriggle out of this claim.
Quick edit, it gets better, lost track of time, Tuesday it arrived not Wednesday.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

I doubt their is a business anywhere in the world that has the back up service that GMC dose. People like to have ago at them, but with their attitude they will just go from strength to strength

Good service Iain.
I have no problem with GMC, their price is right, the machines work well, and for the money I dont expect a Festool.

Al, I actually only use the vac with my Festool Rotex, they do work nicely together even if it is a bit noisier than the festool vac, but at $149 (show special) it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the counterpart.

I have in the past slagged off at GMC. However, I am now changing my tune somewhat and starting to advise in favour of GMC. Not for the quality yet, but for the price and warranty.
This story from Iain shows that they are now trying to emulate Lee Valley when it comes to service.

Gmc
They can't all be that bad. I have a couple of GMC products at home and have had no trouble with them. Perhaps they are really listening to what people have to say and taking it on board to prove they are serious about backing the warranty up on their products. I have spoken to many who feel the warranty is really what convinces them to buy GMC.

I accept that no matter what I buy, from whoever, something can go wrong.
What I dislike is the crapfight that ensues with some suppliers who seem to think that it's your fault it happened.
IT has happened to me in the past although I do praise Bosch for their 24 hour turnaround on repairing my little IXO, that was really impressive, especially considering I live a million miles from nowhere, they couried it in to Clayton, repaired and couriered it back out, it was only a $65 item.
I bought the GMC biscuit jointer as I had never used one before and wanted to try it before buying a 'good' one, that was 5 years ago and it's still going OK.
The sander is a bit ordinary and spins up, but I bought it for the kids to use as they are not touching my Rotex, it was only $39, it has actually died, but given that I dropped it from about 10' onto concrete I am not about to have a whine at GMC.
The vac I bought because I wanted something that switched on and off with the tool, it worked for a while then woul;dn't switch off, but GMC came to the rescue, and had every reason to give me a hard time but didn't.
They still have a lot of gear I wouldn't use but my local retailer reckons that the quality is getting better too, for the weekend warrior, and I am not going to complain about the service.
In fact I may just send them an email with this link and give them a pat on the back for the outstanding service I received.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

For the price you pay GMC is a good product.
I wish I could always buy GMC but often product not stocked.
Sort of like MacDonalds you know what your getting.
Their tools might be average but their service is second none, world class.

gmc stuff i used has been good for what i need it for and my gmc bs hasn't been anything but brilliant...well done to gmc

The trick is to NEVER EVER pick up a Festool... Then you don't know what you are missing out on.
I have a GMC thicknesser - no complaints.
I have a GMC sawbench/vice thing. Very wobbly, but it suits my needs.
I have a GMC shop vac (little one). Works brilliantly at clean up, although I had one die on me. I don't know why, but it lost its suck. It is a pretty basic model and still blew with gale force winds, but lost its suck - weird. Anyway, that was fixed up super fast.
I think that is all my GMC stuff. I buy it because it is cheap and I am not sure how much I will use it. I haven't been disappointed yet. Mind you, some of that might come from not expecting too much.
All in all, I reckon they are a good company and I will continue to support their products.

Have a shed full of GMC... Bought a table saw 2 yrs ago .. The guide arm design was very ordinary so i sent an email to GMC .. knock knock , new one at the door . I forgot to send the original back so i now have 2 ... Thicknesser went well for 2 yrs , i use it all day every day ...
Battery drills are fine but transformers blow their fuses and they are sealed units , so i now have a dewalt one . 2 yr replacement warranty second to none ......shows you how much the top brands were ripping us off ,.
