    Default "Strait-line" laser level

Hope someone can help me here. Just bought (Ebay) a Strait-line laser level 30.

It's a toy! About the size of a computer mouse and half as smart. If anyone has any knowledge of these things, can they please explain the following:

The thing has 2 spirit levels to level the thing b4 use, but how do you get it level, say on the floor (which may or may not be level). Do you wedge bits of paper under various corners until it's level both ways? Or what?

Also, when sitting on the floor (assuming you managed to level it), the line it projects is vertical! IE 90 degrees to the thing's rotation. I would have thought it should be horizontal, so when the thing is rotated a horizontal line moves around the wall.

Any help greatly appreciated b4 I consign it to the Murray.

Does it have a thread in the base to fit it onto a tripod?

I just read the specs on the webpage.
    + or - 3/16" over 15'.

 So its not too accurate.

    3/8" over 30'. Etc.

Well, looks pretty clear in the piccies. What is it about the level that you don't get?

How To Use Your Laser Level
    1. Install Batteries
Open compartment in rear of tool by pressing down top of hinged door
and pulling down. Place 2 AAA Batteries (not included) with # sign
towards you on left-hand side and + side towards you on right hand
    side.
    2. Measure
Measure area to determine proper height and positioning of Laser Level
onto wall or floor. Mark spot with pencil. Reminder: Laser Level projects
    15' beam in any direction.
    3. Align
To use on floors, place Laser Level on mark made in Step 2.
To Use 3M CommandTM with Laser Level: Remove red 3M CommandTM
label from liner. Attach strip securely to base of Laser Level. Remove
black "Wall Side" liner. Place Laser Level securely against surface.
    4. Turn on
On back of Laser Level, push button up. WARNING: Do not stare or
look into the lens of the beam when turning on. Laser can cause injury.
    5. To Remove Laser Level with 3M CommandTM Strip.
Hold Laser Level with one hand and with the other hand, SLOWLY pull
the 3M CommandTM tab straight down against the wall or surface.
Stretch the strip at least 12 inches until Laser Level releases from wall.
NEVER pull the base or pull strip toward you, as damage could result.

So it looks like this level is a fancy string line. Considering the retail price around $20US I guess that's where it's at... What did you pay for it?
