Default Question for the geeks

Guys,

How do I change a link to read something different than what the link actually says.

I want to change a link such as:
http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ad.php?t=28567

To;
GMC Dust Extractor, under lined and blue.

I have seen it heaps here and want to know how to do it.

Cheers, Jack

In the FAQ look under "URL Hyperlinking"
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Thank you,

I like the way you did it in your reply just to show off

I might have had more luck figuring it out if I had any idea it was called something crazy like url hyperlinking. It's a little difficult to search for something when you have no idea what it's called!

Greeny on the way,

Cheers, Jack

Or

Click the "link" button in the menu and you'll get something that looks like this: Note I've changed URL to ORL to stop it doing it's thing!

[ORL="https://www.woodworkforums.com"]https://www.woodworkforums.com

The second URL will be highlit when it appears, all you have to do is type the words you want to use, if it isn't highlit, just delete it anway:
[ORL="https://www.woodworkforums.com"] FREE BEER

And it will look like this:
FREE BEER

Thank you,

P

Thanks Midge,

I found no free beer after following your link!

I am still not turning yet, I guess middle age is a fair way off

That page is a good one to bookmark... 'tia a handy reference but it's hidden in the FAQ about 5 levels deep through cleverly concealed links.

Type whatever text you want the highlight it (click and drag mouse over it).

Then hit the "Insert Link" Button, type in the url of the web page hit OK and you are done.

I know nothing about web code abd this is a quick and easy way to do it.
Have a nice day - Cheers

Thanks Rowan,

I like the way you do it, seems the easiest
