Default New bath installation - self supporting

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. We are currently renovating the bathroom (and kitchen and every other room in the house) and part of the process is installing the new bath. We have one of those nice easy ones that have self supporting base pads so that we don't have to lay it on a mortar bed.

On the install instructions, it says to use a cement based adhesive to glue base pads to the floor. Would I be correct in assuming that they are talking about something like a tile adhesive which is cement based?

Spoke to my plumber and he has never installed one of these before. Usually lays them on a mortar bed, so is a bit unsure of what they mean?

Any other ideas for what they could mean?

    Thanks in advance

Yep, tile adhesive. However, I'd still prefer to throw it on a slurry bed because I think it's a better job and they feel a bit more solid when you get in the bath. Have just installed one of them in our new house and that's what we did. It has the pads on the bottom but it just doesn't feel right without support all the way along.

Don't know why they shy away from it these days. Maybe because it's easier to pull them out.
