Bottom of the page tells you how to turn off the windows messaging and recomends you install a firewall, Zonealarm is good (and free)

I have clicked on this link 3 times and each time my screen went all blurry.
And I could not read it, so I had to reboot.

Is this a problem with my very old, slow machine. Or is it one these funky new sites that require a modern fast machine running XP.

I am hoping that you or someone else can answer this question.

Oh I spent most of the day yesterday doing computer house work. That is updating and running some of the previously mentioned programs in this thread.

Thanks in advance for any assistance on this question.

If you aren't running XP or 2000 then that page wont apply to you.
If you are want to run ZoneAlarm then you can go to http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp and look for the downloads. The basic Zonelarm is free to download.

    Cheers

Thanks Ian, I did download and install Zone Alarm. It looks like a good program.

But I had to uninstal it, as it caused my machine to lock up several times.
It could conflicting with another program on my machine. I have no idea which one though.

Oh I should mention that I am running Win98SE.

I shall also try some of the other links mentioned, and see how I go.

Thanks everybody for the links and advise.

Rob............I am also running Windows 98SE. I use Zonealarms,AVG anti virus and Adaware, with no problems.
I used to run PC-cillin but when I upgraded to 2006 version it clashed some other programs, and also affected my computer on shutdown. (made it hang)
I also tried to run the latest Adobe reader. Similar problems.
It appears that some new programs don't like W 98SE.

Also, if you are running Win98 on an old PC chances are it doesn't have much ram. Most came with only 64mb back in those days. If you chuck another 256mb in them it gives them a whole new lease of life. If wont make them run like a new PC, but makes it a lot easier to run multiple programs, like virus scanner / firewall etc.

    Cheers

    Thanks Ian

I did try those other links, but no go. I'll get some more RAM in and see how it goes then.
