Modifying a chuck into a drill chuck to save on a bit of postage?

Unless 'twas one of the cheap chaiwanese chucks sometimes bundled with low-end lathes there's no saving in that whatsoever! And somehow I can't concieve anyone considering one o' them as part of an inheritance... unless 'twas attached by anchor cable to the rest.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
