Shrove Tuesday
For those of you that haven't realised today is Shrove Tuesday. The day for Pancakes. On the radio this morning they proposed an interesting question that I think is very relevant here. Are pancakes a meal or a dessert?
Have a nice day - Cheers

They can be either. My Dad used to do dinner every Sunday night to give Mum a night off and he ALWAYS made pancakes with lemon juice and sugar.

Both for me! I could have pancakes anytime of the day. Pancakes for breakfast with maple syrup and butter, lunch or dinner with a savoury filling, or for dessert with fruit and ice-cream!
Thinking of which I might go and see if I can find some nowHave a nice day - Cheers

Do you class a crepe as a pancake? There's a restaurant I often stop at in Bredbo. You can have a savoury crepe (my favourite is the one with sauerkraut and Kranski) for main and follow it with pancakes and maple syrup or a crepe with apple and cinnamon.

Time for this again.
BEER PANCAKES.
2 cups of sifted self raising flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups of beer (room temp)
1/4 cup melted butter
2 large eggs
pinch salt.
Method:
Mix flour, sugar and salt together in large bowl until well combined.
Beat eggs and yolk together, then add melted butter and beat again briefly. Add beer and stir until mixed in.
Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients. Using a whisk, mix together until lumps are gone. Don't mix until smooth. Overmixing makes for tough pannys
Heat heavy based fry pan on low heat. Too hot and you'll burn the little buggers. When hot, grease with an oil dampened piece of kitchen paper.
Pour in batter until you get about and 8 cm circle. When the bubbles rise and burst and the hole doesnt fill in again, turn them. Just use the "turner" to check under them to make sure they are that light golden colour before turning them.
This recipe has been given the seal of approval by the SA mob.

Hey Silent,
We always stop for crepes and pancakes at Bredbo on the way to and from the Snow. How good are they!

Definitely worth stopping for. I used tyo wonder how they survived in such a small town but there's always cars parked out front.
Bredbo used to have a reputation for a different reason - the highway patrol officer who was stationed there. I never got busted but plenty did."I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

Aren't the breakfast ones with bacon, eggs and beans called 'flapjacks'?!
They're all good!
