I agree with doug of the protruding mammaries, there be black belts and there be black belts. when I used to train I used to take delight in walloping the dancer boys - the looks on thier faces as a "yellow belt" bashed them was priceless.... I remember changing from Tae Kwon do to Karate and I was targeted by the toughnuts because I had "Tae Kwon do" plastered over my back instead of "Karate". they were very attractive laying on thier backs , I neglected to tell them that I had missed a number of grading sessions and was a "returning" ex-student!

mind you they did thier kata's beautifully and they could break 18 inch boards of 3/4 inch pine no problems.... Im reminded of the Karate kid where Pat Moritia is asked can he break wood and he answers "Dont know, never been attacked by tree"

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

    Woodborer,
Didn't that ever happen to you in Sydney. You ought to have driven in Torquay.

Yeah, there is also the kind where you have touch contact karate for competition. It is full speed, but every strike stops at touch. It is supposed to be very difficult to master, but also very impressive to watch. The problem is a mate of a mate did this and got into a fight in a pub. His training kicked in a he did a string of moves that had the other guy absolutely baffled. He hit him about 10 times before he knew what was happening. Problem was, each hit was only a touch. When the other guy realised he was still standing, he simply punched the guy doing martial arts in the head - only this was just a touch...

Thus, I am very suspicious of certain martial arts. Mind you, they guy who told me about this did Viet Vo Dao and if you saw what they did to each other - you'd wonder if it was legal. I think that a certain moving starring Ed Norton and Brad Pitt comes to mind...
