Actually I feel a bit guilty making light of this subject so here is my last reply on this one.

I think it is in vain to continue and it is a sin you are committing if .....

I wish the poor chap a speedy recovery.

You're absolutely right, of course, but I've always felt that it is entirely possible to make light of a situation without detracting from (or ignoring) its seriousness. I also wish the guy well.

Thanks little birdie. Say no more.

I too wish him well. I saw (sorry, noticed) an article in the Age yesterday and wouldn't wish this sort of thing on anybody. I was simply trying to lighten quite a disturbing situation .... sorry if it offends.

    Sir Stinkalot,

My last message did have some cryptic humour in it, I thought a person like yourself would have picked it up. Maybe you should read it out loud.

    Several possibilities of course:

Friday arvo and you didn't pick it up

Friday arvo and I didn't pick up the cryptic bits in your response

I think everyone feels sorry for this person.

Making light of the tragedy is not necessarily showing disrespect and reading between the lines most people think he should master the handsaw before using a power saw.

    Wood Borer ....
I did pick up on your crypic humour and I am sure you did mine ... my appology was simply for those who didn't understand my humour and were simply thinking that I was being crude.

I think your last two responses sum it up perfectly:

I think everyone feels sorry for this person.

Making light of the tragedy is not necessarily showing disrespect and reading between the lines most people think he should master the handsaw before using a power saw.

..... But for now its time for stinky to lay down his arms and head off home

... did you get that one?

    Shooting through?

I went to great pains examining your response until finally I saw the cryptic clue.

If it wasn't an accident, were the police involved (long arm of the law!)? It must be time to go home.

    Have a safe woodworking weekend.

I shall be extra safe as an injury might attract quite a bit of warranted attention.

Apparently (according to a doctor friend of mine) there has been an increase in power tool accidents over the last few years which could be related to the increase in home improvment shows a good reason to ban these infuriating shows.
