    Default which virus software

    i have 1/2 an idea about computers but am unsure what virus software i should up date to. any idea's for PCs. which one is the best.

    :mad: I had Norton bundled with this computer- I couldn't wait to be rid of it. It slows your computer down, and when the subscription expires, is every bit as vexing as a virus infection:mad: :mad:

    I bot a copy of the locally written Vet on ebay for less than $30.00. It works, and works well. Better than Norton.

    Vet for a commercial package, you can buy it onm the net for about $85 & then $42 a year.

    AVG for a freebie.

    AVG is pretty good for Free...that is for the pc...but to completely (maybe not completely) avoid Virus's....GET A MAC.

    This was discussed just recently.

    PC cillin. It's brilliant. Includes spam filter, firewall, anti spyware, anti phishing, and virus scanning.

    I got rid of McAfee - it's crap. And I got rid of Norton at work for the same reasons as above.
    If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

    Yep, I'll second PC cillin. Got a 3-user pack from the software mob on the back of the 'Green Guide', and it worked out to $52 each, as opposed to 'arvey Boreman's $90 or what ever it was.
    Never ever had a problem with it, and it is very easy to use..

    Mate I asked the same/ similar question recently

    From all the advice I recieved here I decided to go with VET
    Since I have installed it I have found that I did not need to run adawear but still need Spybot ( you can get this free by typing spybot in Google and getting the download), The other thing I like about VET is that you can isolate all internet activity with a simple press of a mouse button and re-engage just as easily , good for the likes of me who leave their computer on 24/7 on broadband.
    I am still in the teething stage but so far so good , far better than not-ons
    I should also add I got the internet Security Suite not just the anti virus program something I would strongly advise

    I use AVG, great price, I think it is a VET based programme, never had a virus sneak past yet.

    I've found AVG to be OK. Can't beat the price. It does automatic updates ever time I fire up the computer. Also use Ad Aware & Spybot.
