connecting rafter to hip rafter
I am an owner builder about halfway through the timber framing for my new house. Need to know the proper way to connect the rafters (150 x 50) to the diagonal edgebeam hip rafter (200 x 70)
One room has 30 degree angle the other has 45 degree.
Is there a suitable heavy duty framing bracket available on the market or will I have to make my own out of steel plate?
Anybody know the answer???

I normally pin them in place with one or two 3" nails out of the gun and then drive 2 batten screws in (large 14# bugle head screws 75 or 100 mm long) This is standard practice in cyclone terrain category 2. I've never done any cat1 work but unless your right on the beach in a cyclone area batten screws are just fine. Your pans or the specifications should tell you of any special requirements.
