Default Oil or Water based paint for skirting and architraves?

My wife is painting our new MDF skirts and architraves with a water based gloss dulux white. It just doesn't seem as 'solid' as I have seen.

Should these be painted with an oil based paint and would it make a significant difference?

    Thanks in advance.

Oil will give a harder finish, but if it is allready painted in water based it is to late, unless you re undercoat. I favour oil on trim and water based on walls, but whatever you put on it all marks.

I was just going to ask if it is possible to go over a water based finish with an oil paint withoiut undercoating!

It can be done, but I would not recommend it especially if it is still a "fresh" finish. Maybe NEXT time
I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it
