Finishing in Shellawax
Hey all,
I am planning to finish a hall table in EEE Ultra Shine then Shellawax, but have found that previous projects have involved a hell of a lot of elbow grease to create friction for the Shellawax. I realise that Shellawax is best suited for the lathe, but I would love to get that kind of finish on a table without having arms like Big Arnie at the end. Is there another way to buff out the blotches that result when applying Shellawax to a larger, flatter surface? Any help would be terrific.

Have a look at Ubeaut's main site under swansdown mops. Every decent polisher in the magazines uses them

Wad - Don't do it! You will get a much better result using our Dewaxed White Shellac or Hard Shellac as a base then using the EEE over the top.
If you are in Sydney, come and visit us on Stand 90 at the WWWShow in a fortnight. I will be demonstrating how to do this type of finish and Doorstop will be demonstrating how to use Shellawax on the lathe.
If you really must use it on flat work you will get your best results using a swansdown mop and not using EEE underneath. The combination you mention is best left for the lathe.
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers - Neil

Thanks Neil. Why shouldn't I use EEE as a base first? Or is it best on smaller projects? Will the Dewaxed shellac with EEE on top give a finish like the Shellawax?
Will I be able to buy the mop and shellac at the show?
Either way, I may pick up a Swansdown mop and give it a go. See you at the show.
