Organ Oil for Outdoor Furniture
I recently used this product on some of my work . Four weeks passed and i went into the garage and to my surprise the jarrah piece i used it on looked terrible ... Now i also used it on some jarrah outdoor seats that i made for a customer , so i'm now stressing .. Can someone let me know what results they have had with this product and whats the best application?

Like any oil it takes multiple applications over time.
I coat using a spray bottle ($2 shop) let it sit for 15 - 20 mins then rub off.
I do this 2 or 3 times on the first day.
a week or so later I give it another coat
then when ever it starts to look 'dusty', meaning it starts to lose the deep colour. This works out to be every 8 months or so depending on the weather and if the piece is fully exposed or under a veranda.
This could be completely wrong but it has worked so farGreat minds discuss ideas,

A wise fella once told me
If you are considering oil to finish timber the rule of thumb is:
Once a day for a week
Once a week for a month
Once a month for a year
Once a year for five years
then sand back and refinish
I still can't work out if he was trying to encourage or discourage me though

is the oil you have used clear or tinted?
if you always do as you have always done, you will always get what you have always got

Sean, do a forum search on organoil. There's been a fair bit of discussion on the problems with pure oil finishes. You'll have a lot of trouble getting a finish that looks good / brings out timber / jarrah beauty with orgainoil, IMHO.

Bris ben know that one . The can says one coat once a year so i thought great product . I have used linseed oil many times and although not the best product really, it does last well on jarrah . I'm after some product thats easy to use on jarrah as i'm now making a few jarrah outdoor tables . Oil preferred as i'm useless with poly finishes . Honestly i think this Organoil is carp , smells good though .
