Thanks for the info...
When I was firebombing years ago there were the remains of a few of these in Calif. They must still be in the desert somewhere, either near Chino or in Az.. That assembly line in the photo was at Ypsilanti, Mich, just over the border from my hometown. The aiport was called "Willow Run", and those factories were still there 15 years ago, don't know about now though.

She is much further down the track of completion now, maybe she will taxi but never fly again.
When you are over this way also be sure to check out the RAAF Museum at Point Cook. On view is the Mosquito restoration, now that's fancy woodwork.
I live 4km from Pt Cook and get treated to displays of warbird aerobatics all the time.
An Airspeed Oxford is also planned as a restoration project out behind the base at Laverton.

Benny,
My father was a WAG on a Beaufort bomber in New Guinea.
I know that there has been one restoration done on one of the 700 or so that were built here but I don't think it's on display in Canberra at present (it's been about 4 years since I've been down there though).
I'd really like to have a look at it and as you seem to know a heap about WWII Australian airccraft I thought you may know something about it.
Cheers
Craig

I used to climb all over a Beaufort cockpit when I was a kid in Kaniva. Farmers bought up bits to use the metal. A wing section was also just out of town. I think these bits went up to Mildura and have since been passed on.
The War Memorial Beaufort was on display after restoration but I'm unsure where it is now, probably at the Treloar centre in Canberra?
The Qld Beaufort must be getting close to completeion as well but having probs finding info for you.

Lovely aircraft, made in Melbourne too.
Get on to the restoration group and I'm sure they will welcome you and provide any info you would like.
