Hydraulic Ram Mounting Plate
I am considering making a 10 ton hydraulic press. This is the style I was thinking of.

I have bought this hydraulic ram.

It has a 2 1/4 x 14 thread on the end of the cylinder for mounting. This I believe is the same thread on some Enerpac rams. Looked up prices for the Enerpac plate and nearly had a heart attack.

Searching the net suggests that A36 would be suitable for a plate. Is this correct? How about some 4140 would that do?
