Default metal edge trim step up platform in bathroom, or no

our new bathroom is going to have a step up/or platform for the bath tub. we will be tiling the front edge of the step and top of the platform. Questions: 1. does the facing tile cover the edge of the top tile, or 2. does the top tile need to hang out and over the end of the upright tile? 3. or do i get a strip of shiny angle and put that along the edge?

1)no 2)sort of. To some extent to allow for 3)yes. It could be a simple L shape or a bullnose or square section in shiny, brushed or colour matched.

The tread tile typically goes over the vertical riser tile. You can also mitre ( jolly edge) the tiles or use a metal or plastic trim to cushion and protect the edge

It is really what visually appeals to you as it is only a cosmetic. What is important is that your waterproofing is done correctly underneath it all.

We had that done last year when renovating our en-suite. The tiler put the horizontal tile over the edge of the vertical one with a matching white plastic strip along the front edge. Looks very neat and covers any rough edges.

Thanks all. to mitre the edges is well beyond my skills so shiny steel edge is most likely going to be the go.
