My "new" Hercus 9" Model A
Have purchased a Hercus 9" and want to fabricate a solid bench to sit it on before I bring it home. Don't want to have to move it any more than necessary! (My purchase includes a timber bench but I'd prefer steel.) I'll include some temporary wheels on the bench so I can move it to its planned resting space then remove them
Plan to build the bench to be a little longer than then actual lathe and about 600mm deep.
Can anyone assist me with actual dimensions?
Full length of lathe including gear covers? (Dimension C)
Distance between lathe feet (Dimension B) & distance from head end feet centre to extreme head end. (Dimension (A)
(So I can locate extra support in the right place.)
With a pinch of luck you'll be able to see my diagram so you'll understand what I'm hoping to find out.
And finally, suggested height to top of bench. (I'm about 5 Ft 9 inches.)
Would truly appreciate it if someone could run a ruler over their Hercus 9" for me...
Thank you, Graham B (Melbourne inner suburbs)Lathe dimensions2.jpg
