Resawing Oregon

I have a project in the house that i am looking to complete which means i'll need some ~40 x 40 'sticks' of oregon (something like the 40x40 pencil round battens) less than 1m in length, which will be screwed in at the top and mid point, with the bottom dangling down

These will act as pickets like on a picket fence for the balustrade on the upper level of the split level home. the reason for oregon is to match the house (walls, ceilings, posts, beams and balustrade are all oregon

To save the back pocket i'm thinking to buy some larger pieces (older second hand reclaimed) and ripping / resawing them on the table saw

My concern is really around wood stability after cutting it, will it bend like a banana? twist like a licorice stick? if done a few searches but havnt really found much

No to the bananas, its generally very stable. Breaking it down on a decent band saw would be easier than a table saw. Table saw will work though.

I bought some second hand Oregon when I built my Roubo bench. Unfortunately the big dimensioned stuff was used in the construction industry around concrete pours and was covered in the stuff. Just be careful of the previous life. I managed to bandsaw off outer veneers but I still went through a few jointer blades getting it ready! No regrets though, it has been great.

Thanks folks, i only have a tablesaw at my disposal so it'll do

in next in line for someone selling some 200x80 3m lengths at $15 each length that is unused.... if i get lucky on that i'll be laughing

If you are on the eastern side of Melbourne.
They might be better than 2nd hand ones. I've used them and they are alright.
