Sealing concrete sleepers

Wasnt quite sure which forum to chuck this in...

Has anyone ever colour sealed concrete sleepers? We have a bunch of charcoal coloured smooth faced concrete sleepers that we want to colour seal in monument using the nutech pavelock.

Assume its the same as usual concrete?

Yup concrete is concrete, treat same as any painted surface you wish to repaint,

Have used this product for 20 years (pavecoat) on paths and driveways. Works really well. Look at either roller or soft broom head options to apply the product. Pressure wash and dry really well before application. Thin first coat and apply second coat un-diluted.

we did end up just using the nutech on the sleepers and they've come up really well.

the slab is a different story, even a light pressure wash has taken the stuff up and lots of other little chips and marks everywhere to the point i'm gonna have to give it another coat and every so often keep coating it I think. Not having an oxide in the concrete means any chips really show up with the light colour concrete coming through on the monument.

That's a mighty solid looking fence. Is it just a fence or is it a retaining wall too? Either way it is impressive. Also, does the sun strike it and if it does do you notice any radiated heat? Having said that if the temperature is hot enough everything radiates heat. I had to clear some weed from our garden pond yesterday as it had overgrown. I thought I would be comfortable sitting on the sandstone slabs dotted around the edge to trim up with garden shears. I couldn't tolerate the heat on my backside for longer than about 30secs, so I just got in the pond. I think the water was close to body temperature.

Is the slab an entertaining area rather than a car park? It looks as though there is a deep ledge.

Aaah. So many questions.

hey Bushmiller

heat wise its not TOO bad. if it just gets pelted by the sun all day it does get a bit hot under foot but it does act like a big heat sink. eventually its getting a deck put over the doors and an open pergola over the "car park" bit. which will help shade it so come next summer it probably wont be as big of an issue.

I might have to go start a thread in the "go to woh" section with some pics to save me bombarding here but you can kind of see the whole thing.

Thanks for the extra pix. I see you are painting the UBs too. That looks very good. Seems you have a nice view onto......Lake Macquarie?

By the title I was expecting to see railway concrete sleepers. They are just plinths or beams.
