Default rolling my gyprock ceiling and all paint is coming off

painting my ceiling today, first time in about 20 years its been painted, i notice in a hell of a lot of places i am rolling it is tearing all the old paint off and sticking to the roller and its really pissing me off. im spending half my time cleaning my roller and i have given up now painting.
it is taking most of the paint off and leaving perfect raw plasterboard paper there like the original paint never stuck to it to begin with.
how do i fix this without having to tear the entire ceiling down and start again?

Strip any flaking paint in preparation before applying fresh paint.
It may be Kalsomine paint which is a PITA.

What prep did you do before painting ?

The problem with scraping the loose paint off, is the paint that isn’t flaking now probably will eventually. I would sheet over it with new gyprock. But I’m a masochist.

Is the house only 20 years old or is it older and you've been there for the last 20 years?

Kalsomine disappeared a lot more than 20 years ago.

With the into of acrylic paints years ago painters started doing one, or at the most, two coats of acrylic with no sealer undercoat, and in most cases did not even dust off first
with the result you are experiencing now, and the coating is also compromised further by no ceiling/roof insulation meaning heat basically causes the paint to fall off.
As already mentioned, remove flaking paint and I have always sugar soap washed first.
In this instance you may even have to use a sealer/undercoat first and I have had situations where a prep was also needed.
Keep in mind we can only give opinions as we are not there and can not see the problem first hand.
    Talk to your paint supplier.

building is 1989 when first painted, may not have been painted since not sure, but not in the last 20 years.
ended up only being about a 2 sqm section i scraped off and sanded and primed and painted again and the rest of the ceiling went ok, i had to start on the dodgiest damn corner didnt I to give me a false sense of security of the rest of the ceiling.
