Cool Howdy from South East Queensland

Hello all. Been interested in working wood for many years but not had the consistent opportunity to pursue it.

During covid I started getting my hands on a few old hand tools and ended up with a good set of old planes (4, 5, 6) and a full set of about 9 Titan chisels (1/8" to 1.5") which I lovingly (and exhaustingly) spent hours knocking the rust off with steel wool and flattening the backs. Still not there with all of them but on the way.

Restoring tools has been my way of engaging with woodworking without actually making much as I lack the space to get properly into it - I don't have a shed myself and I rent so anything I do get going is temporary. There is a local mens' shed but the hours are restrictive for anyone who isn't retired or not working full time in general.

Lack of a space hasn't really stopped me from acquiring tools and timber. I spent a bit of time during covid sneaking into a local home renovation building site at night to flog some of the old hardwood timber out of the skip bin that was taken from the roof they had partially demo'd, and I recently bought a big lot of Australian Red Cedar. So I've got a stock to work with all sitting there for when i do finally get into making proper.

Anyway, nice to meet you all. Will be perusing the forums and daydreaming of all the things I'll make one day. Cheers
