    Default Dust Extractor Stalling

    I have a 2Hp, single phase, older model dust extractor that every once and a while stalls at start up - ie: you can hear that the motor is trying to turn, but does not start spinning. When that occurs I give the blades a bit of a turn with a wooden rod through the dust hose port (when OFF), and when I start it up again, it works as normal. Has anyone else had similar issues, and is there a solution?

    Most likely the start capacitor is failing.
    It is usually a round canister on the side of the motor.
    If you are not experienced around electrical get an electrician to assist.

    Hi
    Thanks for the heads up. Just had a read about what you suggested and seems like that is the issue. Should be a easy fix once I work out what capacitor to buy.
