    Default Epoxy grout

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has used epoxy grout before and can give me their thoughts on the pros and cons of buying and using it please.

I am shortly going to be tiling my bathroom and it has been suggested to me I should use epoxy grout instead of cement based grout as apparently it is more waterproof. I see it is quite a fair bit more expensive also, and from what I have watched on YouTube it seems a lot more work for clean up.

If anyone can share their experiences or thoughts be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Geoff

Never used it before but there was plenty of discussion on the old Renovate Forums, you should be able to find a lot of the discussion via the way back machine archive of the site.

    General summary,
Messy to clean up needs to be done in small sections at a time to allow cleanup.
    Less discolouration and yellowing.

I used it in a shower 25 years ago, so the chemistry may have improved since then.
It was a nightmare to clean up.

Why do you need it to be waterproof? The reason it is normally used is for food preparation areas. Much better to use a standard grout and then apply a penetrating sealer

Thanks Droog. I've tried to look at the old renovation forum, but the site is gone, how did you get that archive site?

Yeah that is the part that scares me, but was told way more waterproof that cement based grout so was hoping for some experiences on it from others if it were possible.

I thought it was just used for tiles regardless of where they are situated?
