1936 Wadkin catalog
I just found this website of Richard Findley. He's a Woodturner in the UK that I follow on instagram.
Wadkin - The Turner's Workshop
He has a link to a nice complete rare Wadkin brochure from 1936 to have a look through.
That's nice as it fills a gap in the catalogs I have.

Nice one .
Nice early version of the RS lathe ! Possibly the first type ?
And the LQ is the same as my one . First time Ive seen that exact brochure picture of it I think.
The catalog is stamped William Adams and Company LTD. South Australia & Broken Hill . Interesting.

That LQ is a peculiar thing, its like a cross over machine between the earlier LP and LQ. Nice catalogue

Close but not exactly the same as my one .
The catalog one has the open casting and switch gear screwed on in a box .
Here's Mine. Switch gear in the casting. And the later model on right for comparison.

Open Castings and Switchgear Cabinets.
I think most of the machines in that catalogue have bolt-on electric switchgear cabinets. Even the PK dimension saw (a feature of Gen 1 PKs).
Here's my CK radial arm saw (tested in 1936) complete with open base
PB150087.JPG Photo taken just after I bought it, and before mounting the motor.
It has provision for mounting an electrical cabinet at the front, below the table.
But it has a deeper base than the one in the 1936 catalogue - which does not appear to have an electrical cabinet at all. Edit: maybe just a simple On/Off switch, but not a starter with magnetic coil.

So have I guessed the function of the two boxes on the RH side correctly?

Good thing it's not possible to short out computer keyboards, but I need to figure out how to clean the drool out of mine now.

Great machine the LQ .
It could do with a paint job one day .
One thing I do with it is these lambs tongue chamfers. Does one in a single pass . Saves me most of a day compared with how I used to do them . 16 for a set of four legs takes an hour .
