Blackwood dining table finish
I have a 2 year old table that has some sort of track marks in the finish, approx 1cm x 2-3 cms long, (the photos have been taken in Macro). Any ideas for the cause & cure? Many thanks in advance. First post in ages so sorry if it's not perfect!

Looks like some kind of abrasion/ pressure marks. Possibly someone's bracelet? would try buffing with whatever you think the finish might be? Possibly with 0000 steel wool or equivalent. this may effect the sheen. If so the whole top might need treating as a whole? Wax or other polish might get you there too. Clean first as the whiteness needs to be gone first(powdered or otherwise damaged finish).Blackwood can be relatively soft sometimes.

Hi and Many many thanks. This setting cost a lot of money (in my terms) I thought it was a hard wood! I have some ribbed placemats, maybe the cause, as i've noticed that the table extensions have no marks so maybe could be the placemates with a hot plate on top? Oh dear, what a shame, but thanks for the cheap placemates KMART! Not sure where I can get someone to remedy this, I live in the Illawarra, any ideas what to do next. I am so disappointed, I am in my seventies and belive it or not this is my first NEW dining setting..Have lived with hand me downs until now. So I LOVE this table and ckairs SO much! Once again MANY THANKS
